This is my penguin lovey pattern. However it’s a bigger lovey and more like a crocheted comfort blanket. It’s both adorable and warming. This baby crocheted comforter will help the child feel secure, warm and beloved. And makes for some super cute baby photos! It’s made with a super soft chenille yarn and cotton yarn.
If you love crocheting loveys and comfort blankets as much as I do, I suggest you have a look at some of my other free lovey patterns!

Feet both versions
Lay the blanket flat with right side up, the marker you placed on the blanket is your guide. Place a marker directly opposite the first marker so you get your feet even. Sew the feet in place on each side of the marker, make sure that there is the same amount of stitches on each side of the marker, use the tail you left in the beginning of the chain to sew the feet. To make sure that the cotton isn’t showing go up and down each st on the blanket as close to the loops as possible. See pictures for guidance.
Assemble blanket version 1
Attach the head in the center of the blanket, using the same yarn you used for part 1 of the head, weave up and down between the stitches and go around and round until it is secure, its better to sew to much than not enough!
Congrats you just finished version 1 of this pattern!

Assembling version 2
On the first marker placed opposite the feet, sew your head in place using the same yarn as you did in part one of the head. Sew securely and fasten your yarn tightly.
To make wings take 2 pieces of cotton yarn and place evenly across each side of the head. Wrap the yarn once and make a knot, pull tightly, wrap the yarn once more and make a secure knot as tight as you can, the goal is to have as little yarn wrapped around the wings as possible but still have it secure, so should the knot come undone there isn’t enough yarn to cause a risk for the child.
